  • Growth Is Scary—But So Is Being Stagnant

By Joraine Bunyi, Training & Development Supervisor , OLIVIA Professional Solutions Picture of Joraine, Training & Development Supervisor at OLIVIA Professional Solutions There’s a funny thing about growth—it’s often terrifying. The unknown, the discomfort, the risk of failure… they all creep in the moment we step outside our comfort zone. It’s why so many of us hesitate to take the leap, whether it’s changing careers, setting boundaries, learning a new skill, or even just saying, “I deserve more.” But while growth is scary, let’s not pretend stagnation is any less frightening. In fact, staying stuck—out of fear, convenience, or complacency—can slowly become its own kind of nightmare. It’s quieter, more subtle. You don’t notice it at first. But over time, you begin to feel it: the dullness, the restlessness, the slow erosion of purpose. It’s the feeling of watching the days blur together while you wait for something to change, even though deep down, you know that “something” has to start with you . The Discomfort of Change vs. the Discomfort of Regret When we grow, we face temporary discomfort. When we stagnate, we invite long-term regret. One is active. The other is passive. One is empowering. The other is depleting. Sure, growth comes with challenges—setbacks, awkward learning curves, maybe even a few failures. But those are signs you’re moving. You’re alive. You’re becoming . Every mistake is a step forward. Every moment of doubt is a doorway to resilience. Staying stagnant, on the other hand, might feel safer in the short term, but it costs us something precious: our potential. Fear Is Part of the Process If you’re scared of taking the next step, congratulations. That means you’re standing on the edge of something that matters. Growth doesn’t require you to be fearless. It just asks you to be brave . To do the thing while your hands are shaking. To try again when it doesn’t work the first time. To stop waiting for perfect conditions—and start where you are, with what you have. You Don’t Have to Leap—But You Do Have to Move Growth doesn’t always look dramatic. Sometimes it’s a quiet decision to try. Sometimes it’s asking for help. Sometimes it’s saying no when you used to say yes. It’s the sum of small, deliberate steps that move you closer to who you want to be. So, if you’re scared to grow, that’s okay. But be honest with yourself: Are you more scared of growing—or of waking up in five years wishing you had? Because while growth is scary, being stagnant might just be scarier. • From New Virtual Assistant to Home Care VA to Manager of Operations: Michelle’s VA Journey (Chapter II)

By Michelle Dimen, Manager of Operations & Strategic Alliance, OLIVIA Professional Solutions Disclaimer:  This blog turned out to be a little longer than expected, so it’s now a two-part series. I didn’t plan to write this much, but once I started, the story just flowed. Hopefully, it inspires readers, especially fellow virtual assistants, to reflect on their own journey and growth. Chapter I shared my humble beginnings and the first half of my story alongside our CEO, Ms. Kat. It’s meant to inspire home care virtual assistants to find purpose in their work, no matter how unfamiliar or challenging it may seem in the beginning.  ICYMI:  If you haven’t read   Chapter I  yet, I highly recommend starting there to follow the full story. Chapter II continues with the second half of my journey, how life has shaped me through both challenges and growth, and a glimpse into what’s next as I step into a new season of leadership and purpose.  Chapter II The Birth of OLIVIA Professional Solutions: A New Chapter in VA Leadership In summer 2023, about two years into my journey as a Home Care VA with Nest & Care, Ms. Kat came to me with a dream. She wanted to build a virtual assistant staffing company focused on helping home care owners, people just like her, and skilled and talented Filipinos. She asked me, “ What do you think?” Without hesitation, I said “ Yes, of course!”. She slowly pulled me out of Nest & Care’s operations since the team we had built was already thriving. We didn’t have a blueprint, just a powerful idea and a whole lot of trust. I jumped in and started helping wherever I could. I helped design and build our first US-based website, developed the training program, started training our first small group of VAs, created the sales presentation, met with future clients, and even helped figure out the matching process. We hadn’t even officially launched, but we already had our first batch of trainees and two placed VAs. From building a company from scratch, I started feeling even more inspired by the kind of leader Ms. Kat is: kind, smart, direct, and someone who knows exactly what she wants. She leads with clarity and compassion, and watching her bring OLIVIA to life made me believe in the mission even more.  In June 2023, OLIVIA Professional Solutions  was officially launched into the world with just three of us in the team: Ms. Kat, myself, and Melchie, our now Chief Executive Assistant and Office & Admin Coordinator. From a team of three to now twenty one people and one vision, we built something that is now changing lives every single day. Life Paused, But the Mission Continued In late 2023, I had to step away and go on medical leave. It was a challenging season, filled with both physical and emotional struggles. But throughout that time, Ms. Kat never stopped reaching out. She stayed connected, checked in, and gave me the space to heal at my own pace. When I was finally ready, I returned in mid-2024 on a part-time basis. I started helping with marketing content and worked on designing our second PH-based website. A few months later, just before the holidays, Ms. Kat offered me the role of Manager of Operations. I gladly accepted with a full heart. By February 2025, what was supposed to start as part-time hours to support my recovery quickly became full-time. I was so involved and excited to connect with everyone, old and new, that I wanted to learn all the new processes and meet every member of the team. By our second anniversary, what began with just the three of us had grown into a strong and passionate team of twenty. I couldn’t be prouder of how far we’ve come. The Colors Behind the Journey and All the Lessons I’ve Learned On paper, I’ve held many roles: virtual assistant, scheduler, intake coordinator, digital marketer, virtual team lead, client success manager, and now, operations manager. But behind all of those titles is the real story. I grew up in a broken family and an abusive household. Life wasn’t always kind. We were forced to live with our relatives since the 3rd grade, and we got out of that unhealthy space by junior year of high school. My mom was a strong woman who had to leave for the United States so that we, her twin daughters, could survive. Our relationship wasn’t perfect, and for a long time, I didn’t fully understand her choices. But now, with more awareness and healing, I recognize she was doing the best she could while carrying everything on her own. Getting to that point took time, acceptance, and a lot of inner work. Through all of that, I learned how to be resilient. I learned how to be brave. I learned how to survive, and eventually, how to thrive. Sharing a few bits of me: I’m a multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter, and part of a band called Southern Lights. We’ve been on hiatus lately due to life’s curveballs — we lost our beloved drummer, who was also my future brother-in-law, and I’m still recovering, physically unable to play live shows. Some members have started their own businesses, but we still have a full album to release and hope to return to the studio and stage soon. I am personally inspired by a mix of very different artists like Paramore, Foo Fighters, Sara Bareilles, Lizzy McAlpine, Coldplay, Mayonnaise, Hale, Kamikazee, Urbandub, and many more. Their sound has shaped how I write, feel, and express myself. What I learned? Life will throw you into grief, pause your plans, and test your strength. But creativity, hope, and purpose can still live in the waiting. Resilience means finding meaning even when things are on hold. I have an identical twin sister, and yes, we look and sound exactly alike. The fun twist? My fiancé also has an identical twin brother, and I’m in a band with them. What are the odds? Life can be oddly magical, and relationships rooted in deep connection teach you how to listen, support, and laugh through the unexpected. My twin sister and fiance are the strongest people I know and they keep me grounded. I was a CAT Commander in high school. I was strong-willed, and absolutely loved drills and strategy. Leadership is not about being the loudest in the room, but about standing firm, taking charge, and staying disciplined when others need direction. I played volleyball and learned early on what it means to be part of a team, lead a team, and be strategic. Teamwork and hustle have stuck with me ever since. It’s a skill for life. You learn to win together, lose together, and grow stronger when you communicate, trust, and hustle with others. I was a Dean’s Lister in college, but the journey wasn’t perfect. I failed my second-year physics class once, and that moment humbled me. I promised myself I would do better, and I meant it. Then guess what, I almost failed again. But I kept going. I studied harder, asked for help, and pushed myself beyond what I thought I could handle. And eventually, I made it through. By the time I reached my junior and senior years, I became one of the top students in some of the most challenging majors in our nursing course. That experience taught me that failure doesn’t define you, your determination does. Failure is never final. What defines you is how hard you get back up, how much you're willing to learn, and how far you're willing to push yourself beyond your comfort zone. I’m a gamer at heart. I grew up playing PC, console, and mobile games. It’s one of my favorite ways to disconnect and decompress. Even play has a purpose. Gaming taught me patience, strategic thinking, and the importance of stepping away when my mind needs rest and recovery. As creative as I am, I won’t pretend I’m good at everything. I have two left feet when it comes to dancing, and I fully own that now. Funny enough, I’ve always led my high school class through multiple cheering and dance competitions. I honestly don’t know how I pulled it off, maybe it was sheer confidence or having the chance to lead and inspire. Looking back, it makes me laugh, but it's also something I’ve come to embrace. Not everything has to be perfect to be meaningful. You don’t have to be perfect to lead. Confidence, passion and empathy often matter more than skill, and there’s power in embracing your imperfections with humor and grace. Inspiring others has always been a part of  me. My fiance and I own and operate a small business, we began in August 2024, and now we’re opening a 2nd branch soon. In addition to our band, this has taught me how to be more effective with my time and how to manage personal things outside of work. I learned to be more patient and think about the people who rely on us in terms of their livelihood. I’m a huge fan of RuPaul’s Drag Race, and I genuinely love a wide range of shows. From time period dramas to sitcoms to k-dramas to musicals and theater-based series. There is beauty in diversity. Openness to different stories, cultures, periods, and perspectives makes you more compassionate, creative, connected to others, and worldly. Last but definitely not the least, I have two lovable puppies who bring joy to my everyday life. I don’t have kids yet, but my twin sister and I feel complete because of them. They have taught me to be more patient. Patience, presence, and unconditional love can be taught by the smallest companions. Caring for others teaches you how to slow down and lead with heart. These aren’t just stories or fun facts. They are the pieces that built the person I am today. I’ve come to realize that I no longer need to hide the parts of myself that feel too complicated or too personal. Sharing who I am, the highs, the losses, the healing, and the humor, is part of what allows me to lead with empathy, creativity, and strength. The mental space I’m in now is what fuels me. It allows me to care for others while still showing up as a leader. It gives me the capacity to guide others with kindness and directness. It’s a balance I’ve learned to hold, and one I’ve admired in someone I deeply respect… Ms. Kat. What’s Next for Michelle I look forward to growing OLIVIA alongside Ms. Kat and our incredible leadership team. In just about two years, we’ve grown from three people to over 20, with more than 170 working virtual assistants and 100+ home care clients. To all new VAs or anyone still finding their purpose, it’s okay to be scared. What matters is showing up. You carry a little fear with you and let it shape you into something stronger. There are no shortcuts, but when you stick with it, this work is incredibly fulfilling. If you’re looking for a job that brings meaning, purpose, and growth, we’d love to talk to you. At OLIVIA, we don’t just hire. We nurture. We guide. And we help people rise… Together. Again, I am Michelle, your Manager of Operations & Strategic Alliance. If you ever need someone to chat with, I’m just a message away. 👉 Are you inspired by Michelle’s story? Take the next step in your own VA journey! • From New Virtual Assistant to Home Care VA to Manager of Operations: Michelle’s VA Journey (Chapter I)

Written by Michelle Dimen, Manager of Operations & Strategic Alliance, OLIVIA Professional Solutions Disclaimer: This blog turned out to be a little longer than expected, so it’s now a two-part series. I didn’t plan to write this much, but once I started, the story just flowed. Hopefully, it inspires readers, especially fellow virtual assistants, to reflect on their own journey and growth. Chapter I shares my humble beginnings and the first half of my story alongside our CEO, Ms. Kat. It’s meant to inspire home care virtual assistants to find purpose in their work, no matter how unfamiliar or challenging it may seem in the beginning. Chapter II continues with the second half of my journey, how life has shaped me through both challenges and growth, and a glimpse into what’s next as I step into a new season of leadership and purpose. Chapter I 2021: The Year Everything Changed I was introduced to the world of virtual work in 2021, right in the middle of the pandemic, when most of us were just trying to survive. The world outside didn’t feel safe anymore, so I started searching for a different career path. I graduated with a Nursing Degree from Manila Doctors College of Nursing back in 2012. I had every intention of becoming a licensed Registered Nurse (RN), but a legal document issue kept me from taking the national licensure exam. It took years and a lot of money to fix the document I needed. The time it was finally resolved, I had already moved on to other things. I tried a lot of different jobs. From a heavy equipment machinery sales associate, to an executive assistant of a corporate CEO, to insurance sales, to becoming an office, production, and music label manager. Music has always been a part of me. I was able to start my very own band called Southern Lights and we had the chance to become a recording and live-performing group. After a decade of trying many things, there was still a part of me that wanted to make use of my nursing background. I studied hard for four years and gave my best in both academics and clinicals. So I asked myself, how could I still use what I learned? My Unexpected Start as a Home Care Virtual Assistant One day, my twin sister (yes, we’re identical, people mix us up all the time!) sent me a job post she saw on Facebook. It was shared by one of her past colleagues who, at the time, happened to be working with Ms. Kat, our CEO. Back then, virtual work was booming. The world was still on pause due to the pandemic, and people were exploring new ways to earn from home. From also being a gamer at the time, I thought to myself that I already had the equipment, so I didn’t think twice about applying. What I didn’t know was that I’d be interviewed by Ms. Kat herself, the CEO and Founder of Nest & Care, and now also the visionary behind OLIVIA Professional Solutions. It was my first-ever virtual interview. I had no idea what to expect, what to say, and I had to speak English all throughout. But I showed up, did my best, and tried to speak from the heart. I definitely stumbled through a few words, but Ms. Kat was gracious and focused on my experiences and who I was as a person. She made the conversation feel human. At one point in the interview, she asked if I was ready to work with Nest & Care. Without hesitation, I said, “YES! This is my time!” My now-fiancé, who was sitting nearby at the time, laughed about that moment. He says I sounded overly and unknowingly confident, like I had already claimed the job before getting it. But hey, maybe that’s what it took. Not long after, I received an email. Ms. Kat wanted me to start working with her home care company. And just like that, my VA journey began. Thrown Into the Deep End: Home Care Scheduling, Intake Coordination, Digital Marketing, and Virtual Team Management, a Hybrid VA At first, I didn’t really know what I was getting into. The job description made it look doable, but I didn’t have any background in home care or scheduling. Still, Ms. Kat trusted me and gave me space to learn. On my first day, I was taught a little bit about how things work, went through the services, and was given a script to help with service intake phone calls. That was it. So I figured it out. Instead of stressing over what I didn’t know, I focused on what I could do. I started creating a tracker to guide myself during service intake calls. I organized notes, built a scheduling tracker, and slowly learned how to manage home care calls and intake properly. My sales experience helped a bit, but this was something entirely different. Being a home care scheduler is no joke. You handle caregiver callouts, talk to clients, manage team coordination, and sometimes deal with real-time crises. You have to learn clients’ needs, caregivers’ personalities and skills, and match them, even without ever seeing or meeting them in person. My background in nursing helped me understand people’s needs better, but I had to learn everything else from scratch, as I didn't have any experience in home care at all. The industry was very new to me. When I started with Nest & Care, we didn’t have the kind of support Olivia offers now. I had Ms. Kat, who was very busy running the company, and Aila, another VA I’ll forever be grateful for. She showed me the ropes even though we were both figuring things out as we went. I think she was 5 months ahead of me at the time. There were hard days, but we kept showing up. And soon, I found myself mastering the scheduler role in no time. I began handling missed calls, resolving crises, and running scheduling operations independently. Ms. Kat even trusted me with more complex scheduler responsibilities. Then just like that, Aila was recalled by her previous employer and had to return to her old job. It was bittersweet losing someone who had guided me in my early days, but I knew it wasn’t the end. I told myself, “It’s time to step up.” At that point, I was just trying to keep my head above water, juggling the challenges that came with scheduling, intake, and client coordination. Then Ms. Kat made the decision to further grow our virtual team. Despite my challenges, I was ready to help. I assisted in sourcing, screening, and even training our new VAs. Without realizing it, I was stepping into a leadership role. There wasn’t an official title or promotion, but I found myself naturally guiding others and offering the kind of support I once needed. In just 2-3 weeks, I was able to help train our new set of home care VAs. Soon, our team grew to include three new VA schedulers, a VA recruiter, a VA bookkeeper, and myslef, including our office team with our care coordinator, office admin, and CEO. Around the same time, I was entrusted with new responsibilities, focusing more on inside sales and digital marketing. With a small but mighty team of six virtual assistants and three in-house office staff, we were able to run Nest & Care using a hybrid staff setup. It was a big step forward, and despite all the growing pains, we made it work together. Looking back, I never imagined a simple Facebook job post would lead to such purpose and growth. It wasn’t always easy, but every step taught me something valuable. Stay tuned for Chapter II, where I share how life continued to shape me and what stepping into leadership from Nest & Care into OLIVIA truly means. 👉 Ready to start your own journey just like Michelle as a Home Care Virtual Assistant? • The Hardest and Most Rewarding Parts of My Job as One of Olivia Professional Solutions' Admin Team Members

By: A Talent Matching & Retention Coordinator's Perspective ( Gini Ordoyo, Olivia Professional Solution's Talent Matching & Retention Coordinator) Working behind the scenes at a Virtual Assistant agency may not always sound glamorous—but it is meaningful in ways I never imagined. As the Talent Matching and Retention Coordinator at Olivia Professional Solutions, I have the privilege and responsibility of ensuring that we don’t just connect clients with Virtual Assistants—we build long-term partnerships that are rooted in alignment, trust, and purpose. A Day in the Life: More Than Matching Each day, I handle a variety of moving parts. I respond to inquiries from both clients and virtual assistants, ensure all candidate pairings are on track, and monitor the progress of upcoming interviews and onboarding sessions. What drives me is the understanding that every email, every meeting, every update I push forward affects someone’s career and someone’s business. That’s what makes my role more than a checklist. It’s a mission. I also actively work on improving our systems and keeping up with industry best practices to ensure we deliver the kind of service that’s not only efficient but truly transformational —for both our clients and the virtual assistants we serve. The Hardest Parts of My Role There are days when the job weighs heavy. One of the toughest moments for me is hitting a wall when trying to find the right VA match for a client—especially when I know how much the applicants need the work to support their families. It’s a constant balancing act between advocating for our VAs and making sure we uphold the high standards our clients expect. As someone who gets to know each applicant—their hopes, challenges, and personal circumstances—it’s emotionally difficult to turn away someone who’s doing their best to land a job they deeply need. There’s also the fear that sits quietly in the background: the possibility that a match you’ve worked so hard to put together might not work out. Whether it’s the VA resigning or a client voicing dissatisfaction, it’s heartbreaking. It’s a reminder that even the most carefully considered decisions can have unpredictable outcomes—because we’re working with people, and people are complex. But even in difficult times, I see every challenge as an opportunity to show up for both parties. I take pride in finding ways to support our clients in seeing the value in their VAs, and I’m always ready to give our VAs a gentle push when they need it—especially during tough days. The Heartwarming Wins That Make It All Worth It But for every tough moment, there’s a deeply rewarding one. It’s in the smiles, the grateful messages, and the success stories that remind me why I do what I do. I’ll never forget one particular match: a candidate who was last on a client’s preference list, barely asked a single question during the interview. But instead of shrinking, the VA confidently took the floor and asked thoughtful, relevant questions about the client’s business. That simple act of initiative changed everything—and he ended up being the one hired. Today, they’re still working smoothly together! There’s also a unique kind of joy when a client says, “I don’t know who to choose—they’re all amazing.” That means I did something right. And when I see how excited our VAs get when they’re chosen, I know that my small part in their journey matters. On a personal note, hearing our CEO and Manager of Operations tell me they trust me in this role fills me with a quiet kind of pride. It’s not just about being good at my job—it’s about knowing I’m helping keep our mission alive. What I’ve Learned Along the Way Professionally and personally, this role has been a constant teacher. This job has taught me that there is always more to learn—not just from tasks, but from the people we work with. And every interaction is a chance to learn something new. Whether it’s a client sharing their business goals or a VA opening up about their dreams, there’s something deeply human about the work we do. It’s also taught me the importance of adaptability. I often tell our VAs: wear the right hat for the moment. That means presenting yourself differently depending on who you're speaking with—while still being authentic. Communication is not just about talking; it’s about connecting, and that’s something I strive to do in every interaction. Working in this industry has only deepened my respect for Filipino talent. Remote work gives us freedom and flexibility—but it also demands resilience, discipline, and initiative. What you said in your interview will be tested in real work. And our VAs? They show up. They deliver. And I couldn’t be prouder to help them get there. Representing the Philippines on a Global Stage There’s something incredibly fulfilling about knowing I’m part of a Filipina-founded agency helping Home Care businesses succeed. Olivia Professional Solutions isn’t just another VA agency—as far as I know, we’re the first to specialize in the Home Care Industry , and that focus allows us to truly understand and support a niche that desperately needs reliable, compassionate, and competent support. As a Filipino, I carry not only my own pride but the pride of our community. I do my best to let our clients see the true strengths of our VAs—not just in resumes, but in potential. When I see a client happy with their VA, I feel a shared win—for the VA, for the client, and for the Philippines. Why I Keep Showing Up This job isn’t easy, but it is deeply meaningful. For as long as there are aspiring Virtual Assistants who want to create better lives for themselves and families, and for as long as there are Home Care Agencies looking for trusted help, I will be here—ready to listen, match, support, and cheer people on. I’m honored to be part of this mission. And I hope that in some small way, the work I do continues to create ripples of impact that go far beyond a single match. Ready to Make a Difference—Not Just Do a Job? If you’re an aspiring Filipino Virtual Assistant with a heart for service, a drive for excellence, and a dream to build a better future—for yourself and those you love— we want to meet you. 👉 Apply now at www.oliviapros.ph  and become part of something bigger. • Halfway Through the Year: Finding Meaning in Work, Loss, and Purpose as a VA

🕰️ 1. Introduction – A Moment to Pause I can’t believe it’s already June—halfway through the year. Time moves fast, and it’s often only when we pause that we realize how much has happened. This point in the year is a natural checkpoint, and for me, it’s brought a lot of reflection—both professionally as a recruiter at OLIVIA and personally as someone who recently went through loss at home. This year reminded me of just how valuable it is to have time, space, and presence—something that remote work has made possible. Through both joy and grief, I’ve learned that meaning isn’t just found in big milestones, but in the slow, quiet days in between. 🏡 2. Life as a Fur Mom & Remote Worker One of the things I’m most grateful for as a remote worker is the time I get to spend at home—with my family and with my two senior shih tzus. Every day, I wake up, eat, work, and rest with them right beside me. When work gets tough, all I have to do is look in their direction, and things somehow feel lighter. Their presence is comforting, and in return, my presence brings them peace too. They're no longer left alone, waiting for me to come home late from a long day. But in February of this year, my world shifted—I lost one of them. It’s a moment I never thought would come so soon. The pain is still there, and sometimes it sneaks up on me in quiet moments. But there’s also deep gratitude—because I was there. I didn’t miss the little things. I got to be present during their final days, and I wouldn’t have had that if I were still working onsite. Working from home allowed me to slow down and be fully available not just in good times, but in the most difficult ones too. That time, that presence—it’s something I’ll never take for granted. 💼 3. My Journey as a Recruiter at OLIVIA Before OLIVIA, I worked as a recruiter in the BPO industry, and while that job had its own rewards, it also had limitations. I mostly connected with people from one city, and I’d leave home so early and return so late that I barely had time for myself, let alone my family or pets. When I joined OLIVIA, everything changed. Now, I get to speak with amazing people from all over the Philippines—each with their own story, their own reasons for wanting a better work-life balance. I get to help them kickstart or continue their journey as virtual assistants, often for clients in the U.S. home care industry. It’s not just a job—it’s a chance to grow, to learn, and to build something meaningful. Every day brings a new story. Every day is a learning curve. And every time I help someone find the right opportunity, I’m reminded why this work matters. 💖 4. Why Purposeful Work Matters What we do at OLIVIA isn’t just virtual assistance—it’s support that makes a real difference. Our clients in the U.S. rely on their VAs to help them manage the many moving parts of the home care business. That means when you work with us, you're helping someone provide better care to others—while also caring for your own life at home. That dual purpose—helping others while staying rooted in your own life—is powerful. And in my own experience, it’s life-changing. 🚀 5. Invitation to Reflect and Act So here we are, halfway through 2025. Maybe you're also taking stock of where you are, what you've been through, and where you want to go. Maybe you’re feeling the need for change—or simply a stronger sense of purpose in the work you do. If you're looking for a career that allows you to be present, to grow, and to do meaningful work from the comfort of your home, I encourage you to consider joining OLIVIA. It gave me a life I didn’t think was possible—and I believe it can do the same for you.

  • “Because You Deserve It, Too”

A gentle reminder to pause, reflect, and treat yourself — not someday, but today. Written by: Ella Billones ( Client & VA Success Associate of OLIVIA Professional Solutions) The Person You Keep Forgetting Sometimes we’re so busy showing up for everyone else — work, family, friends, responsibilities — that we forget one very important person: ourselves . Hi! I’m Ella, a Client and VA Success Associate at OLIVIA. When I started working, my mindset was all about helping my brother graduate and giving back to my family. Those were my reasons. And while that’s beautiful and I’m proud of it  — but somewhere in that journey, I forgot to ask myself, “Where do I fit in this story?” Have you ever felt that too? That for others, you’re so quick to give — time, money, energy. Someone asks for something, and you don’t think twice. But when it’s about yourself? You hesitate. You overthink. Even something as simple as ordering iced coffee feels like a luxury you haven’t “earned” yet — so you settle for making one at home, just to save a few money. You’ve Already Earned It Here’s the truth: you deserve to be rewarded, too. Not because everything’s perfect or because you hit every milestone. But because you keep going. You show up tired. You show up even when things don’t go your way. You take care of others while quietly holding yourself together. That strength? It may not always be loud or visible — but it’s real. And it deserves to be honored. What Reward Looks Like Rewarding yourself doesn’t have to mean something extravagant. But this year, I wanted something more. May was a big month for me — my first anniversary at OLIVIA, and my silver birthday. And I realized, if I keep waiting for someone to tell me I deserve to celebrate... I might never do it. So, I booked a solo trip to Hong Kong and Macau. I spent my birthday alone, but at the happiest place on Earth! It felt like the most joyful, freeing thing I’ve done for myself. Because for once, it wasn’t about making someone else happy. It was about me. And during that trip — I finally said yes to every coffee I wanted. The ones I used to skip. The ones I told myself I didn’t need. I made up for the year I spent tipid -ing, questioning if I deserved even a little treat. This time, I said yes — to the overpriced lattes, the cozy cafés, the quiet joy of sipping something just for me. You Don’t Need a Reason You don’t need a reason to rest. To celebrate. To buy that coffee. To take that trip. Being human is reason enough. You don’t need to explain or justify why you’re doing something kind for yourself. Joy isn’t something you have to “earn.” It’s something you’re worthy of, simply because you exist. A Gentle Reminder Take the break. Book the solo date. Drink the iced coffee you’ve been thinking about. Celebrate yourself — not just when others tell you to, but when you  feel it’s time. Because if there’s one thing I’ve learned this year, it’s this: You can be generous to others and  still make space for yourself.   The life you’re building? It includes you too. And you — just as you are — are worth celebrating. If this resonates with you and you’re thinking of joining OLIVIA Pros, go for it! You never know how far you can go until you take that first step. 🚀 Head to this link to a apply as a VA today!

  • Mom by Day, VA by Night (And Sometimes Both at Once!)

Written by: Pearl Bacuetes ( Training & Development Coordinator of OLIVIA Professional Solutions) A Little About Me Hi! I’m Pearl, a proud mom to my daughter, Mirai. (Yes, her name is Japanese—I ugly-cried after watching Mirai no Mirai , and days later, I found out I was pregnant! 😂) Being a Virtual Assistant while raising a child has been an incredible journey, and I want to remind fellow parent VAs that you’re not alone. The Struggles Are Real, But So Is Your Strength Working from home doesn’t always mean working in peace. It’s answering emails while preparing snacks, managing schedules while handling tantrums, and attending Zoom meetings with a toddler on your lap. Late nights, early mornings—it’s a juggling act. But here’s the truth—you are enough. The love and dedication you pour into both roles are powerful. And let’s not forget the ultimate multitasking skill: muting yourself just in time before your child yells, “Mommy, I need to poop!”  No corporate training prepares you for that! During training with Miss Joraine, I once had to turn off my cam to care for my baby. I was amazed at how understanding everyone was. I started working with my baby on my lap every night, but now, she sleeps on her own—a small but meaningful reminder that things get better with time. Why Being a VA is a Blessing for Parents While balancing work and parenting is tough, being a VA also provides: Flexibility  – Work around your child’s schedule. More Time at Home  – Be present for milestones, playtime, and bedtime stories. Growth & Stability  – Earn while honing skills that open career opportunities. It Takes a Village—You Are Not Alone Parenting isn’t a solo journey. Having support—whether from a partner, family, or friends—makes all the difference. I’m incredibly blessed with a hardworking husband who not only supports me but also shares in every aspect of our family life. We work as a team—balancing tasks, housework, and even finances. His money is his, mine is mine, but together, we make sure everything gets covered, and more importantly, we make sure our family thrives. When it comes to parenting, we share the responsibility of disciplining our daughter—sometimes I'm the "bad cop," sometimes he is. But it’s not about who plays the role; it’s about the balance we create. It teaches consistency and respect in our household, and it’s a beautiful thing to witness as we both show our daughter that guidance and decision-making are shared equally. We each bring something unique to the table, and together, we create a loving, supportive environment for our little one. To all the single moms and dads—you are incredible. You’re doing double the work with double the love. Remember, it’s okay to ask for help. Lean on family, friends, and fellow VAs when needed. Your strength is inspiring, and you are never alone in this journey. Many VAs are parents just like you, balancing their careers and families. We’re all in this together, and support is always within reach. Tips for Managing Parenthood and VA Life Enjoy the moment  – They grow up fast, so savor each stage and celebrate the little things as they happen. Take breaks without guilt  – You deserve time to recharge. A well-rested mind is far more effective and productive, so don’t be afraid to take a step back when needed. Ask for help  – We all need support, so don’t hesitate to lean on your family, friends, or fellow VAs when life gets overwhelming. Advice from Miss Kat (Our CEO):  As a full-time mom herself, Miss Kat reminds us that balancing both worlds is not only possible but completely normal. She always says, “Just practice managing your time,” and leads by example. Her approach shows that it’s okay to juggle both roles with grace, flexibility, and self-compassion. You’ve Got This! I remember not being able to afford things my baby liked. Now, every time we go out, I spoil her—maybe making up for lost time (or bribing her to stay cute and cuddly forever 😆). She means the world to me, and being a VA has allowed me to give her a better life. So, to all the moms (and dads!) working as Virtual Assistants—keep going. Your sacrifices matter, your strength is inspiring, and you prove that parents can thrive in this career while being loving, dedicated figures in their children’s lives. You've got this! 💪✨ If my journey resonates with you and you’re thinking of joining OLIVIA Pros, go for it! You never know how far you can go until you take that first step. 🚀 Head to this link to a apply as a VA today!

  • My Journey to Success: Becoming OLIVIA’s First Admin of the Month

Written by: Ella Billones ( Client & VA Success Associate of OLIVIA Professional Solutions) Introduction Hi! I’m Ella, a Client & VA Success Associate at OLIVIA Professional Solutions. I’m excited to share my journey and recent achievement—winning OLIVIA’s first-ever Admin of the Month award! The announcement came as a total surprise during our first 2025 Town Hall. Our Manager of Operations was about to have a special announcement, and then our CEO said, “Hold on, I’m looking for her.” At that moment, I was off-cam, and I received a private message, telling me to turn on my camera. The moment I read that message, It felt like I was floating—I was overwhelmed with joy. My mind went blank, my hands were shaking, and I was on the verge of tears. It was an unforgettable moment that made me realize how much I’ve grown in just 10 months with OLIVIA. My Journey at OLIVIA Before joining OLIVIA, I was praying and searching for opportunities because I had one goal in mind—I wanted to help my brother graduate. I didn’t want to waste time while waiting for my own graduation, so I started looking for work. I randomly applied for jobs on OnlineJobs.ph , without being too picky about the position. I knew the VA industry was competitive, and I had no prior experience, but I took a leap of faith. When I applied at OLIVIA Pros, I never expected to make it past the initial and final interviews, especially since my co-applicants had experience in BPO and healthcare. I just did my best and made sure I stood out. The moment I received the job offer, I was ecstatic—after countless applications, OLIVIA gave me a chance. They saw potential in me, even without prior experience. During training, I was asked if I was comfortable talking to clients. Without hesitation, I said yes—even though I had no idea what the role truly entailed! I just knew I was willing to learn and grow. Little did I know, I’d soon become part of the Operations Team. My final interview was with our CEO, and just two hours later, I received my contract!I shared this special moment with my family, and I couldn’t help but say, "Thank you, Lord!" Knowing that I could finally support my sibling was a blessing beyond words. As a Client & VA Success Associate, my role is to bridge the gap between clients and virtual assistants, ensuring smooth communication and support. My initial biggest challenge was getting to know all our clients and VAs so I could understand their needs better and provide the right support. What Led to My Success One of the biggest challenges I faced was handling client escalations about their VAs. As the middle person, I had to ensure the client felt heard and supported, while also guiding and helping the VA improve. A strong balance of empathy, problem-solving, and communication was crucial. In my position, neither the client nor the VA should feel left out—I have to find solutions for both. I wouldn’t have grown this much without the guidance of our CEO, our leadership team, and my amazing teammates. Our CEO has been an incredible mentor, pushing me to develop my decision-making skills. I remember a one-on-one conversation where she told me that great leaders don’t just solve problems—they anticipate them.  That stuck with me, and it’s something I strive to apply daily. Our Manager of Operations also played a huge role in my growth, constantly encouraging me to step out of my comfort zone. And of course, my teammates have been a source of inspiration—we lift each other up and celebrate each other’s wins, big or small. Lessons & Advice for Fellow VAs If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that belief in yourself is the first step to success. My motto has always been: "She believed she could, so she did ." Opportunities don’t just come knocking— you have to chase them, create them, and make them yours . Here are some key lessons that have helped me thrive: Be proactive – Don’t wait for someone to tell you what to do. Take initiative! Always communicate – Whether it’s a concern, an update, or just checking in, clear communication makes all the difference. Believe in yourself – You don’t need experience to succeed;  you need determination, a willingness to learn, and the courage to step up. When I started this journey, my biggest motivation was to help my brother graduate. Now, seeing everything come full circle makes all the challenges worth it—he just defended his thesis, will be starting his OJT soon, and before long, he’ll be graduating and working toward his mechanical engineer license! It’s a proud moment, not just for him, but for me too, knowing that my hard work has made a difference in his future. Conclusion Winning Admin of the Month was more than just an award— it was a reminder of how much I’ve grown, how much I’ve learned, and how much more I can achieve . This recognition has motivated me to keep improving, not just for myself but for the clients, VAs, and the entire OLIVIA team.  Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue growing with OLIVIA. My goal is to enhance my leadership skills, help more VAs thrive in their roles, and contribute to the company’s success. To anyone out there striving for success—keep pushing forward, embrace every challenge, and never stop learning. Your breakthrough moment might be closer than you think! ;) If my journey resonates with you and you’re thinking of joining OLIVIA Pros, go for it! You never know how far you can go until you take that first step. 🚀

  • When Work Feels Overwhelming: A Heartfelt Reminder for Virtual Assistants

Written by: Melchie Bahjin ( Chief Executive Assistant & Office Coordinator of OLIVIA Professional Solutions) When I started my journey as a virtual assistant, I was filled with excitement. The idea of working in the comfort of your home, no commute or traffic, more time with your family, and building a career on my own terms was a dream come true. But as time went on, I realized that while this job has its many rewards, it also comes with challenges, tight deadlines, moments of self-doubt, and days when nothing seems to go right. If you're a VA (or aspiring to be one), I want to remind you: it’s okay if work isn’t always okay.  We all have days when we feel exhausted, frustrated, or even question if we’re cut out for this. But don’t let those moments define your journey. Remember Why You Started Think back to the reason you took this path. Was it to gain financial independence? To spend more time with your family? To escape the 9-to-5 grind? Whatever your reason, hold onto it. Your "why" is what will push you forward when the days get tough. Growth Comes with Struggles I’ve had my share of struggles, difficult projects, self-doubt, and even moments where I felt like giving up. But every challenge has shaped me into the VA I am today. It’s through the struggles that we grow, learn, and become better. Mistakes don’t mean failure, they mean progress . So if you’re facing a tough season, trust that you’re being prepared for something bigger. You’re Not Alone. Lift and Be Lifted One of the best things about being a VA is that we’re part of a strong community. There’s always someone who understands what you’re going through. If you feel stuck or discouraged, reach out. Whether it's through a VA group, a friend, or a mentor, don’t hesitate to ask for support. At the same time, be that source of encouragement for others . A simple message like “You’re doing great”  or “I’ve been there, and you’ll get through it”  can mean the world to someone. Let’s build each other up! We rise by lifting others. Take Breaks and Protect Your Peace Hustle culture can sometimes make us feel like we always need to be working. But the truth is, rest is just as important as productivity . If you’re feeling overwhelmed, take a break. Step away from the screen, breathe, and do something that recharges you. Your work is important, but so is your well-being. Keep Moving Forward Not every day will be perfect, and that’s okay. What matters is that you keep showing up, learning, and growing. You’ve already come so far, don’t stop now . So to every VA out there, whether you’re just starting or have been in the field for years: You’re doing better than you think. Keep believing in yourself, keep pushing forward, and never forget that you are capable of amazing things. Let’s continue to uplift one another and build a VA community where we celebrate both our wins and our struggles; because at the end of the day, we’re all in this together.
